Forty Pounds of Marijuana Seized after Air Craft Violates President’s Airspace

A pilot is now in jail after his Cessna aircraft carrying 40 pounds of marijuana was seen invading the airspace of President Obama’s Marine One helicopter.

The incident occurred in Los Angeles Thursday. President Obama was flying in the Marine One helicopter when two fighter jets intercepted the privately-owned Cessna aircraft forcing it to land.

The Secret Service stated the President was never in any danger, at the time. The measure was precautionary to remove any unauthorized aircraft from the “restricted airspace”.

The two F-16s used to intercept the plane were dispatched by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) from March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, California.

The pilot of the plane was questioned and remains in the custody of Long Beach police as he faces local prosecution, states U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice.

NORAD spokesman Michael Kucharek declined to comment on exactly how close the Cessna came to Marine One stating that it only violated the eight-mile “restricted airspace” radius around Los Angeles International Airport.

The tail number of the plane nor the pilot’s name has not been released. The Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Brie Sachse says the agency does not identify planes involved in security incidents.

After a short wait, due to the delay caused by the Cessna, President Obama was able to complete his trek from LAX to San Francisco in Air Force One.

While in San Francisco, President Obama visited a 44-year-old cancer patient, named Jodi Fisher. Fisher had become known after she handed out free ice cream in her home town, which was on her “bucket list”. Her bucket list also included meeting President Obama.
